Bio

Sarah was the daughter of John and Emily Dillon Wallen of McMinn County, Tennessee and was married the 26th of August 1858 to John Henry Scarbrough in a ceremony performed by Joel Culpepper, JP. Sarah and John were parents of Robert Nathaniel, Deniza, John A., Sarah K., Mary L., Flory, Clementine, Elizabeth, and Ben Franklin. They were members of the Clear Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church of McMinn, County, and John served as Register of Deeds in Polk County from 1868 to 1870. The family moved to Texas sometime between 1880 and 1900, and their last child was born there. According to Inez Scarbrough Cates, daughter of Ben Franklin, she remembers attending her grandmother's memorial service, but doesn't remember the date. She knows she was interred in the Tennessee Valley cemetery with John Henry but was in an unmarked grave. The contributor of the memorials for John Henry, Ben Franklin and Sarah does not seem to be active so their memorial numbers are added here. John Henry # 16395074 Ben Franklin # 16345541 Sarah 'Sallie' K. 16395114
