Evelyn Davenport, age, 96 of DeSoto, Texas passed away March 7, 2014. She was born January 4, 1918 in Dallas, Texas. She worked many years as a Secretary for Chance Vought and her and her husband, L. R. Davenport owned a John Deere dealership for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband L. R. in 2000. She is survived by her son, Michael Gibson and his wife Christi. A Graveside Service will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Dallas - Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. (Lane A) ~ Jaynes Funeral Chapel, 811 So. Jimmy Sheppard officiating under direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home, Wills Point. Mr. Davenport died Dec. 1 1 at his residence. He was born June 10, 1919, in Lone Oak to the late Lee Ross and Ida Gibson Davenport. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He owned and operated Davenport Auto1-Co. in Dallas for many years, and later owned and operated Davenport Tractor Co. in Sunnyvale for 25 years. He moved from Sunnyvale to Lake Tawakoni about 35 years ago, and was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by brothers, Lee Davenport and Otis Davenport. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Smith Davenport, Wills Point; son, Michael Gibson, DeSoto; sisters, Leona Hill, Greenville,, Glenda Skinner, Garland, and Thelma Ruth Lee, Lewisville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
