Bio

Colfax, Jan 11 __ Thomas E. Lunn passed away at his home Tuesday, Jan 3. at 5:30 p.m. after a prolonged struggle with cancer of the stomach. Thomas Andrew Lunn was born near Perry, Dane county, Jan. 9, 1862. He left home at the age of 21 years, and went to Charles Mix county, S. D., where he filed on a homestead and resided ten years. He was then elected sheriff of Charles Mix county, serving in that office for four years, from 1892 to 1896. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Lewis of Lake Preston, S. D., Sept. 13, 1893. They resided in South Dakota until 1907, when they moved to Colfax, remaining here six months, when they moved to Wheeler, where they resided until two years ago, when they moved back to Colfax. Nine children were born to them. Two died in infancy, seven surviving as follows: Mrs. Adolph T. Johnson of Byron Hills, S.D., Mrs. Robert Stevens of Wheeler, Clara H. of Eau Claire, Leon, Walter, Elsie and Nina at home. Besides the widow and children, he is survived by an aged mother and one sister at Mount Horeb and three brother at Baneoted S.D., none of whom were able to be at the funeral on account of sickness. Mr. Lunn was a Christian gentleman and enjoyed the respect of a large circle of friends. The remains were laid to rest in the village cemetery Saturday, the funeral being held in the Norwegian Lutheran church, the pastor, Rev. Chr. S. Thompson, preaching the sermon. The deceased was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. The Dunn County News; Thursday, Jan. 12, 1922
