THE CARTHAGE EVENING PRESS Monday, January 8, 1917 MAYOR OF SARCOXIE DIES Richard Prigmore Succumbs in Springfield Hospital Richard Prigmore, mayor of Sarcoxie, died Saturday in a Springfield hospital following an illness of five weeks from appendicitis. Mr. Prigmore became ill the day following Thanksgiving. His condition grew worse and three weeks ago he was taken to Springfield. An operation was performed at once and another several days ago. At his bedside when death came were the widow and father-in-law J. A. Haggard . Mr. Prigmore is also survived by three brothers, Clarence Prigmore of the state of Washington; T. J. Prigmore, of Reeds; Rev. Joseph Prigmore of Sedalia, and by one sister, Mrs. Nannie Orchard of Texas. The dead man's father, the late Daniel Prigmore, was one of the pioneers of southwest Missouri. Accompanied by the widow and Mr. Haggard, the body was taken from Springfield to Sarcoxie for interment. Mr. Prigmore was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow lodges at Sarcoxie and owner of a large flour mill there. ♦ NOTE: the 1910 Census identified his wife's name as Laura b.1875.MO Also, the death certificate can be viewed at Missouri Digital Archives/death certificates online website.
