' Elroy David Kahanek was born on March 27, 1941 in Fayette County, Texas, the son of Herman John Kahanek (1912–1983) and Helen Elizabeth "Ola" (Hoffman) Kahanek (1918–2006). He was married 1st on July 3, 1963 in Harris County, Texas to Karen Layne Denman (1942–1966), and she was the daughter of Joseph Arnoly "Denny" Denman (1907–1965) and his wife Beverly Jane (Mounger) Denman (1919–2015). Elroy was married 2nd to Cindy -- . A US Army veteran, who attained the rank of Sergeant, Elroy was living in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee and was 72 years old and married when he died on March 11, 2014. Survivors included his widow, a married daughter, three grandchildren and eight siblings. Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville. Original obituary in THE TENNESSEAN on March 14, 2014
