Texas Birth Index 1903-1997 Fredie Joe Down born January 30, 1940 Wichita County, Texas to Fred Earl Downs and Hollene Pearl Boren. Fredie Joe Downs, 73, of Manvel, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Hollene Downs; and sister, Francine McNett. Fredie is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Beverly Downs; son, Jody Downs and wife, Gina; daughter, Lori Downs Kluesner and husband, Jamie and 2 grandchildren. Fredie was a hard worker and great provider for his family, working for 30 years with the Houston Chronicle. He was very knowledgeable on many topics and would love to talk and share stories. Fredie especially enjoyed doing crosswords puzzles and researching genealogy. He was affectionately known as "Papaw" and Granddad and cherished spending time with his family. Fredie will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation and funeral service for Fredie will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Clayton Funeral Home, Pearland, Texas with T.L. "Bud" Edmonds and Steve Lee officiating. Interment will take place in their family plots in Dundee, Texas at a later time. Clayton Funeral Home Pearland, Texas
