Lettie Connelly Hinds Wednesday, March 28, 2007 Marshall County Tribune Lettie Connelly Hinds March 25, 2007 Lettie Connelly Hinds died Sunday March 25, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Visitation will be Monday, March 26th after 4:00 pm at London Funeral Home in Lewisburg, TN. The funeral service was conducted Tuesday afternoon, March 27th at 2:00 pm at Lewisburg First United Methodist Church by Rev. Michael O'Bannon and Rev. Leland Carden. Interment was in Lone Oak Cemetery. Mrs. Hinds was born March 30, 1917 in Unadilla, GA. With her parents William Mortimer and Martha Felts Connelly, she moved to Lewisburg at an early age and lived there all her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty-seven years , Carl Edward (Rudy) Hinds, son, Carl Edwards Hinds, Jr., grandson, William Connelly Hinds, and brother, James Mortimer Connelly.For over thirty years, she served as Executive Secretary of the Marshall County School Board and worked with eight school superintendents beginning with her father in 1942. Mrs. Hinds was a life long member of Lewisburg First United Methodist Church where beginning in 1944 she served as church organist for thirty nine years, was a charter member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and was honored with a lifetime membership pen, and was past president of the United Methodist Women. She held membership in the Marshall County Retired Teacher Organization, was past Regent and Registar of the Robert Lewis Chapter of the DAR and was past president of the Lewisburg Study Club. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Hinds Orr of Lewisburg and Amelia Hinds (Dorris) Jernigan of Murfreesburo, TN; three sons, James Connelly (Lucy-Fay) Hinds and John Edward Hinds of Lewisburg, and William Luther (Julie) Hinds of Brentwood, TN. Surviving siblings include Mary Ruth Connelly of Lewisburg, Emily Connelly (Phil) Lee of Nashville, Sarah Connelly (Marion) May of Chattanooga and John Felts (Mary Ruth) Connelly of Hermitage, TN. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren; James Wayne (Tammy) Orr, Jr., David Carl Orr, Mary Lynn Orr (Joe) Berlin, Emily Orr Warf, Joanna Jernigan (David) Austin, Dorris E. (Sheri) Jernigan, Jr., Lettie Jernigan (Alan) Primeaux, Amy Connelly Jernigan, Julie Hinds(Glynn) Griggs, Jason Connelly (Brandy) Hinds, Patrick Edward (Jeanie) Hinds. Fifteen great grandchildren also survive. Grandsons and grandsons-in-laws will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
