Bio

Selma W. (Kruse) Lemke, daughter of Herman and Hilda (Menger) Kruse, was born December 6, 1930, at Creighton, Nebraska. Selma died Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Avera Creighton Care Centre, Creighton, Nebraska. Selma was baptized in the Lutheran Faith on January 1, 1931, at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills, Nebraska and was later confirmed on April 2, 1944, remaining a member of Christ Lutheran Church her entire life. Selma attended country school near the family home. On September 10, 1957, she was married to Dale Lemke at Bazile Mills, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with five children: Ron, Julie, Karen, Roger, and Jan. When Selma and Dale were first married, they lived near Lindy, Nebraska, until moving to their farm north of Creighton, Nebraska. Selma worked by Dale's side milking cows, raising animals and doing fieldwork. She loved to cook, bake, garden, raise flowers, and spoil her grandchildren. A lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills, Nebraska Selma was active in the church and was a member of the Ladies Aid for many years. Her faith was very important to her and she loved singing hymns. Selma entered the Avera Creighton Care Centre in Creighton on January 4, 2008. Selma was preceded in death by: parents; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Myron Koenig and sister-in-law, Sharlyn (Mrs. Herman) Kruse. Funeral services for Selma W. Lemke, were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Creighton, Nebraska. Pastor Terry Huber as officiator, with burial in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery, rural Creigthon, Nebraska.
