OBITUARY- AUSTIN -- Howard H. Hofner, 73, of rural Austin, an area farmer and former construction worker, died Monday (Sept. 26, 1994) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born Nov. 30, 1920, in Spring Valley and attended area schools. In 1941, he married Marion Johnson and she preceded him in death. On July 4, 1968, he married Alice Bryant and she survives. Mr. Hofner farmed in the Spring Valley area before moving to Austin and then was employed by Ulland Brothers Construction. He had farmed in the Moscow area of rural Austin since 1972. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Austin. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Larry of Austin and Roger of Dexter; two daughters, Carol (Mrs. Paul) Vigum of Ostrander, Judy (Mrs. Tom) Hanson of Lake Crystal, Minn.; a stepson, Ralph Bryant of Austin; a stepdaughter, Theresa (Mrs. Don) Vlach of Phoenix, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three step-great-granchildren; two brothers, Lloyd of Waterloo, Iowa, and Walter of Rochester; and a sister, Leona (Mrs. Russell) Nagel of Harmony. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church here, with the Rev. Bruce Wilder officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary here and an hour before the service Friday at the church. ***************************************
