Aberdeen American News (SD) - Thursday, July 25, 2002 Deceased Name: DOROTHY B. GISI Ipswich - Mass of Christian burial for Dorothy B. Gisi, 74, of Ipswich will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ipswich. The Rev. Thomas R. Clement will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Gramm-Hein Funeral Home in Ipswich in charge of arrangements. A liturgical wake service will be at 7 p.m. tonight at the church. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, and for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. She died Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. Dorothy Barbara Hammrich was born Feb. 25, 1928, to Frank and Marion (Tuscher) Hammrich in Ipswich. She attended rural school at Sunnyside School in Huntley Township. She helped on the family farm. She married Leonard Gisi on April 12, 1950, in Ipswich. They made their home north of Onaka on a farm for four years. They then returned to Ipswich. He died in 1957. She was a cook manager for the Holy Cross School Lunch Program in Ipswich for 10 years. She was a clerk at the Co-op Super Valu Grocery Store for two years. She was a cook for the Ipswich Public School Lunch Program for 26 years before retiring in 1995. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Holy Cross Catholic Church Altar Society. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and Roman Catholic Church religious activities. Survivors include two son, Galen Gisi of Ipswich, and Lyle Gisi of Mitchell; two brothers, Franklin Hammrich and Eugene Hammrich, both of Ipswich; and five sisters, Caroline Armstrong, Helenmae Hammrich and Rita Herman, all of Aberdeen, Roszella Heilman of Yakima, Wash., and Marion Peterson of Longmont, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters, including one in infancy. Casketbearers will be Marc Hammrich, Dana Hammrich, Mike Hammrich, Wilfred Gisi, Jerome Binfet and Keith Grabowska.
