Benjamin Parker Gates III, 90, of Crenshaw, MS, passed away March 5, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis. Mr. Gates was the proprietor of BP Gates & Co. for over 50 years. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army. He was a deacon and pillar of Crenshaw Baptist Church for 64 years. Mr. Gates was a former alderman for the town of Crenshaw, former member of the Lions Club, former Gideon, and volunteer fireman. Mr. Gates biggest mission in life was to spread the Gospel. He is survived by his wife, Cornelia M. Gates of Crenshaw, MS; daughter, Gayle Gates of Sardis, MS; son, Parker Gates (Helen) of Madison, MS; sister, Jo Ann Plunkett of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, Courtney Gates, Lauren Gates, Ben Gates and Carla Phillips; and great grandchildren, Hannah, Hayden and Houston. Memorials may be sent to Crenshaw Baptist Church.
