Bio

FALL FROM A HORSE FATAL TO YOUNG BOY Berlin Warner Poulsen, the twelve years old son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Poulsen, was killed last Friday, at noon near the High School, when he was thrown from a horse. The boy landed on his head on the sidewalk and suffered concussion of the brain, living about and hour and a half, after. The boy had been helping his father haul coal from the Jex Lumber Coal Yard to the high school. As they were making the last trip before dinner, they met T.W. Smith, a friend of the family, who was leading a horse. Berlin asked Mr. Smith, if he might ride the horse home, and on receiving permission, started out. As he approached the high school, the northbound Orem car frightened the animal, which ran across the sidewalk and slipped down, with the tragic results stated. Funeral services were held over the remains of the unfortunate boy Sunday afternoon at the First ward meeting house, commencing at 4:30 p.m. Bishop Wm. C. Beckstrom presided and the ward choir, under the direction of Wm. B. Frost, sand "O My Father." The invocation was offered by Bishop A.T. Money of Palmyra, after which the choir sang, "When Loved Ones are Called to Leave Us." Elder Allen of Provo was the first speaker. He told of the sudden death of the boy, who seemed to be enjoying all the blessings of boyhood, and said it was hard to part with one so suddenly. A solo was rendered by Clarence Smith. George Adams the second speaker, spoke of the difference of life; he said some were privileged to live many years upon the earth, while the life of other was short. He said we should be thankful for our knowledge of the Gospel and the comforting influence of our Father in Heaven. By special request Mrs. Marie Hiatt sang, "I Have Read of a Beautiful City." Wellington Wood, Jr., spoke briefly and consolingly to the bereaved parents. The choir sang in closing "Rest for the Weary Soul," after which the benediction was pronounced by counselor Gilbert A. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Poulsen and family desire to express their gratitude for the many expressions of sympathy, aid and floral tributes offered them during their recent sad bereavement in the death of their son and brother, Berlin Warner Poulsen. *cemetery list shows "POULSON, CHARLES E" owns 11 adjacent plots of probable family members below.
