Bio

Agnes Veskrna, 93, Winner, SD passed away February 15, 2014 at Avera Gregory Healthcare Center, Gregory, SD. Agnes Cervenka was born on September 14, 1920 to Frank and Mary (Vavra) Cervenka at Colome, SD. Agnes married Emil Veskrna on November 20, 1943 at Winner. After their marriage, the couple owned a café/garage in Burke, SD where son LeRoy was born on September 25, 1944 then moved to Edgerton, Wyoming where they resided for 3 ½ years. After spending 5 years in Winner they moved to Colome where she worked at the locker, grocery store and cafe. Agnes has resided there until she moved into the Lamro Apartments in 1996. In 2011, Agnes moved to the Elder Inn. Agnes was a member of the St. Isidore Catholic Church and the Legion Auxiliary. She loved music and dancing, especially polkas and crocheting. Spending time with her son, grand kids and great-grand kids was the highlight of her day and taking family camping trips to see antique gas and engine shows. On these trips she was known for making everyone who came by pancakes over the camp fire. She also liked the bus trips to the casinos in the area. Agnes is survived by her son LeRoy,of Colome, grandson LeRoy, Jr (Misty), of Rapid City, SD and granddaughter Penny Jo, of Aberdeen, SD; great – grandchildren: Justin and Paige Veskrna of Aberdeen and Vance and Joseph Veskrna of Rapid City. She is also survived by her sister Marie Holub, of Winner, SD. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Tony Cervenka and Jerry Cervenka (in infancy), Sisters: Albina Jindra and Georgia Rajewich and daughter-in-law Carol Veskrna.
