Leonard Doyle Rhoades, 90, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away on August 2, 2013. He was born on June 10, 1923 in Ravenna, Nebraska to Claude and Clara (Peters) Rhoades. He was raised and attended school in the Big Springs, Nebraska area. Leonard was an HVAC Technician for Carrier, Mac and other companies. He was a member of the LDS Church, and Rocky Mountain VFW Post 1781 in Fort Collins. Leonard was a proud WWII Army Veteran. He served in Okinawa and saw action in the Philippines and Asiatic Pacific Theater in the 305 Infantry Regiment, of the 172 members of his unit, only 14 survived. He loved baseball and word searches. He is survived by sons, Dennis Rhoades of Greeley, Colorado, Riley Rhoades of Loveland, Colorado, and Marvin Rhoades (Jacque) of Severance, Colorado; daughter, Ronda Lambert (Jim) of Mena, Arkansas; brother, Richard Rhoades (Gloria) of Sun Lakes, Arizona; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and dear friends, James & Pam Moore. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Fort Logan National Cemetery with full Military Honors. Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
