Duncan Banner, Wed., Oct. 12, 1988 Bethany - Former Duncan resident ARA MAE CHARLESTON, 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 1988, in Bethany. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church of Lawton, with the Revs. Gilbert Brothers and Jim Shock officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Lawton under the direction of the Bill Merritt Funeral Home of Bethany. Mrs. Charleston was born Dec. 17, 1898. She and her husband, Simeon Charleston, owned and operated a dry cleaning business in Duncan. She was a longtime resident of the Davis High Rise Senior Citizens Apartments in Lawton before moving to Bethany. Her husband preceded her in death in 1966. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Blades of Oklahoma City, and Oma Lee Blackerby of Lawton; a son, Gilbert "Choc" Charleston of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
