Mrs. Marie Schindler Skarke Posted: November 20, 2013 Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Schindler Skarke, age 81 of Schulenburg, will be held Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the St. Rose Catholic Church in Schulenburg. Visitation will begin to the public after 9:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. from St. Rose Catholic Church in Schulenburg. (Schindler) Skarke, age 91 years, 10 months, 24 days, passed away at Stone Oak Care Center in San Antonio on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 4:36 p.m. She had Alzheimer's for 10 years. The funeral will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 11 a.m., followed by interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Tim Kosler will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mike Schindler, John Schindler and Vernon Schindler, nephews; Joe Schindler and Al Schindler, nephews and godsons; and Dan Pipilas, son-in-law. Named as honorary pallbearers are brothers Doc Schindler, Frank Schindler, Alfred Schindler and Leroy Schindler. Rosary will be recited on Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the church, led by Rev. Kosler. Born on Dec. 22, 1921 in Schulenburg, she was the daughter of Alfred and Rosa (Kasper) Schindler. She attended St. Rose Elementary School and Schulenburg High School. On July 21, 1947, she married Wilbert A. Skarke at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Her husband served as a technical sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as an electronic technician. She lived in Schulenburg from 1921-47, Weimar from 1947-55, San Antonio from 1955-2007, Houston from 2007-April 2013, and San Antonio from April 2013 until the time of her death. She was a member of the Altar Society at Holy Name Catholic Church in San Antonio. Survivors include three daughters, Janis F. Pipilas of Schulenburg, Kathy M. Stiles of Dallas and Paula J. Watson of San Antonio; four brothers, Alfred Schindler of Columbus, Leroy Schindler of Schulenburg, Frank Schindler of Bastrop and Doc Schindler of San Antonio; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
