Services for Dalton Blundell, 80, of the Brumley community in Upshur County will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 13, 2003, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with the Rev. Duane Turner and the Rev. Kenneth Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Mr. Blundell passed away Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, in Upshur County. Mr. Blundell was born Aug. 6, 1923, to A.J. and Ethel Blundell in Wood County, Texas. He lived in Gregg and Upshur counties all of his life. Mr. Blundell married Maevon Steelman June 1, 1946, in Upshur County. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Brumley Baptist Church. He was self-employed as a sheet metal worker and retired in 1987. Mr. Blundell is survived by his wife, Maevon Blundell of Brumley; his sons, Ronnie Blundell of Ore City and Darrell Blundell of Gilmer; two sisters, Pauline James of Mesquite and Alieth Harris of Sunnyvale; a sister-in-law, Jean Blundell of Garland; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Kerry Blundell, Charles Blundell, Rusty Blundell, Greg Smith, Lyndon James and John Paul Steelman. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
