Bio

Jack Charles Strizek was born on April 3, 1941, on the family farm northeast of Garland, NE; to Louis Francis and Blanche (Hromas) Strizek Sr. and passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2014, in Lincoln, NE; at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 23 days. Jack grew up in the Garland area where he attended and graduated from Garland High School. The couple moved to an acreage just up the road from the family farm. Jack farmed and milked cows until he sold the herd in 1994, they later built a home in Lincoln and moved there in 1996. Jack then began working at the grounds of the Capitol building and Governor mansion where he would do maintenance and snow removal. He always loved when the Christmas tree was brought into the Capitol and the children would come and decorator the tree. Later he enjoyed working at the Game and Parks in the Salt Valley area the last 8 years. He also helped Larry Hudkins with the farming. Jack loved to hunt and fish. He would scoop the snow off the pond so the kids could ice skate while he fished. He enjoyed playing cards, cooking and made the best gravey. Jack and Kristi loved vacationing in the Black Hills. Jack was also a long time member of the Garland Fire Department. A celebration of Life service was held January 30, 2014, at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church. Burial followed at Germantown Cemetery in Garland, NE.
