RODGERS, ROY DOUGLAS (DOUG), Born August 11, 1929 Died November 12, 2005. Doug is survived by his loving wife Doris Rodgers, son and daughter-in-law, Steven J. and Vicki Rodgers and daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Jim Ingendorf. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Doug was born to W.W. "Bill" Rodgers and Clara Belle Rodgers. He had two younger siblings, Billy Don Rodgers (deceased) and Wynona Murphy. After being diagnosed of lung cancer in 1992, Doug was given 13 more years of life through God's miracle. Unfortunately the cancer returned and finally claimed his life. Doug Rodgers was a self made man who made a big name for himself in the Dallas produce arena. From being a small time fruit peddler under the Dallas Farmers Market shed, Doug achieved great recognition and wealth in the wholesale produce industry. Doug was a Mason and very generous, contributing to many non-profit organizations through the years. He was admired by his peers, family and friends. A loving husband, father and friend, he will be greatly missed. His family knows that he is walking with God and feels comfort in knowing that be is no longer in any pain. To our Hero, we love you and will honor you for the rest of our lives. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2005 in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel with burial in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Published by Dallas Morning News on Nov. 15, 2005.
