DELHI - Services for Jessie Williamson Hunter, 77, of Delhi, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 1996, in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi with the Rev. Neal Fryer and Rev. William Crider officiating. Burial was in the Delhi Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Cox of Delhi. Ms. Hunter, a retired school teacher, was born and educated in Kaufman County, Tex. She began teaching school at the Lone Oak School, Kemp, Texas. After graduating from East Texas State Teachers' College, she married and moved to the Central Community, near Delhi, where she taught at Central High School, majoring in English and serving as school librarian She concluded her teaching career with retirement from the Crowville High School in Franklin Parish. She also taught Sunday School, and served as the children's treasurer and was a charter member of the North Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Thomas Lee Hunter of Delhi; her parents; nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Kathryn Hunter of Monroe; a grandson, John Michael Hunter of Monroe; and daughter, Joni Hunter of Crowville; brother and sister-in-law, Horace and Charlene Williamson of Kemp, Tex.; sister, Jenny Cox of Crockett, Tex.; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
