Obituary John W. Morton John William "Jack" Morton, was born September 18, 1884 at Red Bird, Nebraska and passed away at the Hospital at Tydall on January 5, 1956 at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 28 days. He farmed all his life in the Springfield and Tydall area with his brother Charles on several different farms in the vicinity. Jack was farming with hs brother Charles at the time of his death. He is survived by three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Etta Crofutt of Custer, SD, Mrs. Stella Crosley, Springfield, Mrs. Kiempe (Martha) Lukkes, Avon, and Charles of Tyndall. Also a number of neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother , a brother and two small sisters. Funeral servces were held on Saturday at 1:30 at the Crosby Funeral Home and at 2:00 Pm at the Congrational Chruch. Rev. BJ Trickey officiated and the burial was in the Springfield cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Crane, Ralph Cooley, DE Henderson, Lyle Irish, Jesse Dawes and Victor Hughes. (Springfield Times, Thursday, January 12, 1956)
