Sarah Reid married William Bird Gilbert on 28 Dec 1856 in Marion County, Mississippi. Sarah died between 1871 and 1880, probably in Louisiana. In the 1870 Census, William and Sarah are living in Louisiana, and he is working as an overseer for a plantation. Most of their children were born, despite what the death certificates may say (1870 Census, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana). In 1880, William is living with his sister and brother-in-law (who was his wife's brother), Jessie Whatley Reid and Jerusha Gilbert (William's sister) in Comanche County, Texas. On 25 Jul 1880 in Comanche County, Texas, William married Sarah Ann Gordon. William is in the 1900 and 1910 Census in Angelina County, Texas where he died in 1914.
