POLLIANNA B. OWENS, died Sunday, April 27, following a short illness. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 30, 2008, from 6 pm until 8 pm. Funeral Services will be 4 pm Thursday, May 1, 2008 in the Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home Northwest Highway Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sparkman-Hillcrest Cemetery. Born on August 13, 1918, in Bearden, Tennessee, a suburb of Knoxville, Pollianna B. Owens was the eighth child born to Dr. Charles Edward and Maggie Dora Hamilton Bacon. Polly, a retired Realtor, was vice president of Allie Beth Allman Realtors and was recognized as a Multi Million Dollar Producer. She was employed with Taylor Publishing Company for many years before entering the world of Real Estate. She is a member of the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church of Dallas . At the age of two Polly moved with her family to Davidson, Okla. where her father had established a medical practice in that southwestern Oklahoma town in Tillman County. She was graduated from Davidson High School, attended Cameron Junior College in Lawton, Okla., and was graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and history from Southwestern State Teacher's College in Weatherford, Okla. She taught school for several years in Grand Prairie, Texas , as well in several Oklahoma communities. She married H. Weldon Owens on June 1, 1950 at Little Rock, Ark., in the home of her brother, Sherrill Price Bacon. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Breckenridge, Texas , where she was co-publisher of the Stephens Co. Times along with her husband. Weldon made a remarkable career as a columnist with the Dallas Times-Herald and was a radio personality with KRLD Radio. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by a step-daughter Mrs. Sandra Rutledge of North Carolina; three nieces, Ann Wright of Cordova, Tenn., Cheryl Clark of Houston, and Nancy Bacon of Norman, Okla.; two nephews, Chuck Bacon of Norman, Okla., and Mike Dees of Houston; a grand niece Genevieve Stiefvater of Eads, Tenn.; three grand nephews, Cody Clark and David Clark, both of Houston, and Bradley Stiefvater of Eads, Tenn., a grand niece Caroline Stiefvater of Eads, Tenn.; a dear friend Sally Warrick Ross and her sons Chris Warrick and Greg Warrick and their families of Dallas and a host of friends and relatives. Bearers are Charles Bacon, David Stapleton of Norman, Okla.; Greg Warrick and Chris Warrick, Tom Briggs and Dr. Ken Killen, all of Dallas . Dallas Morning News, The (TX), April 30, 2008
