CENTRAL CITY REPUBLICAN (Central City, Nebraska)- Thursday, July 24, 1952- Page 1. NCC STUDENT LOSES LIFE IN CAR CRASH MONDAY Kenneth Wills, 19-year-old youth of Osceola, lost his life in an auto accident seven miles southwest of David City last Monday. Wills, a Nebraska Central College freshman last year and registered for his sophomore year here in the fall, was a mainstay on the Quaker athletic teams last year. He was a passenger in a car driven by William Birkel, 20, of Shelby, which left the road after crossing a bridge and crashed into a tree. The accident occurred on a county road. Hospitalized in David City as a result of the accident are Dorothy Henderson, 17, and Marilyn Augustine, 16, both of Rising City. Miss Henderson suffered lacerations and head injuries. The other girl received multiple bruises. Wills died enroute to a hospital. Officers reported that the driver apparently didn't realize the bridge on this county road they were traveling is at a 40-degree angle. After crossing the bridge, the car went onto a shoulder and the back end of the car crashed into a tree, Wills was riding in the back seat. Wills is survived by his mother, Mrs. George Wills, three brothers and a sister.
