Parents: Robert Daniel & Icie Mae Casteel Stallard Jessie Stallard Vaneventer BRISTOL, Tenn. Jessie Stallard Vandeventer, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Norton, Va., and had lived in Bristol Tennessee since 1996. She was the daughter of late Robert Daniel Stallard and Mae Casteel Stallard. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Millard Vandeventer Sr.; brothers, Clifford L. Stallard and Herman R. Stallard; sisters, Merle S. Ringley and Bettye S. Whited. She was postmaster at Dorchester, Va., worked for Wise Coal and Coke Company for 30 years. She was retired from Norton City Schools. She was a life long member of Norton Presbyterian Church where she served as Elder, Deacon, Circle Chairperson, Choir member and Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Norton Garden Club, Boone Trial Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include one son, John Millard Vandeventer Jr. and wife, Vera A. Vandeventer; four grandsons, John Wesley Vandeventer, Joshua Ryan Vandeventer, Jay Patrick Vandeventer and Jared Nicholas Vandeventer; nieces and nephews, Sandy and Don Earls, David and Vickie Stallard, Diane and Don Vickers, Danny and Teresa Holt, and Linda and Windy Reed; and sisters-in-law, Gladys Julian Stallard, Gladys Myers Stallard and Grace Vandeventer Comer.
