Bio

Virgil R. Parker, Fort Worth lawyer since 1903, died at his home on April 20, 1956, at the age of 77. He had served as assistant city attorney, 1903 - 1907; as assistant county attorney, 1907 - 1910; and city judge, 1916 - 1917. He had been corporation court judge, city prosecuting attorney, and assistant district attorney under Bob Roy. For the last few years, he was court-appointed attorney at the Tarrant County court house. Mr. Parker, was born January 14, 1879, in Gallatin, Tennessee, was the son of Will R. Parker, deceased, a former attorney in Fort Worth. Two brothers also practiced law in Fort worth, Clarence Parker and Will R. Parker, Jr., who served as district attorney there. He attended public schools and Polytechnic College in Fort Worth. After studying law in the office of his father, he was admitted to the Texas Bar. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Eagles, of which he served as president in 1907. He was married to Dottie Parker in 1895 and she survived him. Other survivors were a son, William J. Parker, Denton; two daughters, Mrs. Claude Wheeler and Mrs. J. G. Horne, both of Fort Worth; a brother, Clarence Parker, and a sister, Mrs. A. Hunter, both of Fort Worth.
