Obit from Family Records most likely appeared in the Kenosha News "Herschel Stevenson, 49, 3512 Roosevelt Rd., who was killed Wednesday morning when a cement tile fell from a passing truck and crushed the cab of the truck in which he was riding, was born in Lawrenceville, Ill., on May 24, 1919, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Stevenson. In childhood, he moved to South Bend, Ind. where he attended school. He later moved to Vincennes, Ind. where on Dec. 4, 1938 he married Miss Opal Skinner. He came to Kenosha to make his home in 1962. For the past three years, Mr. Stevenson had been employed as a painter for the Ruffalo Decorating Co. He was a member of Painters Union Local 934. Mr. Stevenson was a veteran of World War II, entering the army in July, 1941, and serving 33 months overseas with the 3rd Army, 5th Armored Division in North Africa, Normandy, D-Day, and the Battle of the Bulge with the 3rd Spearhead Division. He was honorably discharged in January 1947. Survivors are his widow; a son Dale Lee with the army at Fort Benning, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Sharon) Devine, Kenosha; three grandchildren; two brothers, Lee, Kenosha and Harold, Houston, Tex., and two sisters Mrs. Laura Cary, South Bend, Ind. and [Mrs.] Garland Hatton, Wheatland, Ind. He was preceded in death by a son Robert Lee, and a brother James."
