Donald J. Skrehot, 80, of Lufkin, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at PineCrest Retirement Community. Don was born November 5, 1933 in Yoakum, Texas to the late Lillian (Pustejovsky) and Victor Skrehot, and grew up in Kenedy, Texas. Don served in the United States Army with the 551st AAA Nike Guided Missile Battalion, was a 1958 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, and retired from the U.S. Forest Service after 31 years in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas. In addition to his beloved family, Don enjoyed all sports, the outdoors, and yard work. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Olivia Skrehot of Plano, Sam and Rhonda Skrehot of Huntington, and Russell and Laura Skrehot of Spring; as well as eight grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Melba Sue Jones Skrehot; and brother, Victor W. Skrehot, Jr. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
