JANICE NEWKIRK Janice Newkirk, 73, of Seward, died December 23, 2013 at her residence. Janice Judy Newkirk was born July 9, 1940 to Bertin and Antonia (Plisek) Robbins at Seward. She attended Seward Schools. She was united in marriage to Robert Newkirk on October 3, 1973 in Kearney. She worked as a secretary for the Aurora News Register and as well as the Gibbon Reporter. She enjoyed quilting as well as family genealogy. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Survivors include her children, Patrick (Kathleen) Bartek of Denton; Nancy Barnett of Lincoln; Karl Newkirk of Tulsa, OK; and Cheryl (David) Skillman of Denton; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Bertin O. (Joyce) Robbins of Lincoln; sister, Betty (Mike) Hollman of Lincoln; sisters in law, Donna (Richard) Herzog of Sioux City, IA and Catherine Robbins of Overland Park, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertin and Antonia Robbins; husband, Robert Newkirk; brother, Charles Robbins and granddaughter, Kelsea Lane.
