Larry M. Stier, 64 December 28, 1949 ~ January 7, 2014 Larry Stier was born Dec. 28, 1949, in David City, Nebraska, to Marvin and Irene (Humlicek) Stier. The family moved back and forth between David City and Blair for his father's job with the gas company before permanently calling Blair home in 1962. He graduated from Blair High School in 1968. He married Diana Jones on August 16, 1969. They couple were blessed with two children: Christopher and Carissa. Christopher is married to Lindsay and Carissa is married to Aaron Devney. The couple has two grandchildren: Ainslee Stier and Asher Stier. He joined the Blair Fire Department in 1970. He was one of the original group of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) trainees. He also served as a member of the Rescue Squad for 10 years. Mr. Stier worked for the Blair Telephone Company, Hayes Electric, and Dick's Electric as an electrician, eventually obtaining his master contractor electrical license. He worked the last 15 years as an electrical technician for the Blair Community Schools. He was an active Ham Radio enthusiast, N0XBO, communicating around the world as well as participating in the Blair Ham Radio Club. At Christmas time he used his Ham and electrician skills to set up electrical displays, like Santa shooting basketballs, at his home. Larry Stier, 64, of Blair, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Diana; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Lindsay Stier, and their two children, Ainslee and Asher; his daughter and son-in-law, Carissa and Aaron Devney; brothers Ken (Jeannine) and Jim Stier; and sister-in-law Marsha Stier. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Walt and Verna Muehlich Stier and Cyril and Ida Pospichal Humlicek; and mother-in-law and father-in-law John and JoAnn Watkins. Visitation 5-7 pm, followed at 7 pm by Vigil Service, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, Blair, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Saturday, Jan. 11, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery. A luncheon will follow interment at the South Creek Conference Center, 715 Grant Street, Blair.
