Evelyn Leona (Gower) Potts entered this life on May 22, 1931 in Bennington, Oklahoma born to William Wilson and Zona (Rose) Gower and entered into the Gates of Heaven on January 6, 2014 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 82. Evelyn attended school at Bray and Bokchito and later married James O. Potts on May 31, 1948 in Bennington. They were blessed with 64 years together until James's death on September 18, 2012. After they married they left Bryan County and returned in 1972 from Weatherford, OK. Evelyn was an Avon representative for several years and worked for C.R. Anthony's and city office clerk in Weatherford, postal clerk in Albany and as an election official in Bryan County. She was a member of the Albany Baptist Church and served as church secretary for many years. She loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, feeding birds and wild animals, crocheting and crafts, canning food and was a family genealogist. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband James O. Potts; parents W.W. and Zona Grower; sister Ora Lee Gaither; son in law Ronnie Lawson and nephew David Thomas. Those loved ones left behind to cherish her memory are her children James Michael Potts and wife Marilyn of Hinton, OK, Beverly Lawson of Bokchito, Brenda Neyman of Durant and Susie Wilson and husband Myron of Bokchito; grandchildren Victoria Rose Mathews, John Potts and wife Morgen, Thad Potts, Stewart Hoffman and wife Sarah and Clint Hoffman and wife Courtney; great grandchildren Kane and Kira Hoffman; sister Lillian Thomas and husband Jessie; and numerous in laws, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Albany Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Bokchito Cemetery with John Potts, Thad Potts, Stewart Hoffman, Clint Hoffman, Danny Thomas and David Potts serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
