Emily J. Blankenship, 92, of Calera died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Shelby Ridge, Alabaster, AL. She was born on Sunday, February 27, 1921 in Callaway, KY, Daughter of the late Robert Newell Johnson and the late Sally Jane Winchester Johnson. She was a Homemaker. A diligent worker and prayer warrior for Christ. Surviving are Son, James L. Blankenship of Calera, AL; Granddaughters, Stephanie (Kenny) Jones, MS, Amy (David) Nail, TN, Beth Blankenship, S.C.; 8 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Nieces & 2 Nephews greatly loved; Daughter-in-Law, Anna Chandler of Thorsby, AL. She was preceded in death by Husband, James E. Blankenship, Son, Donald Earl Blankenship, Son, Emil Gene Blankenship, Sister, Flora Rowland, Sister, Leta Adair, Brother, John Edd Johnson, Brother, Robert Johnson. Friends will be received from 6-8, Thursday, December 19, 2013 @ Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Majors, Rev. Donald Jones and Rev. Braxton Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Thorsby Memorial Cemetery, Thorsby, Alabama. Martin Funeral Home directing.
