Bio

Thomas (Tomas) Barta was born 20 Jan 1840 in House #32, Hraditě (Hradischt) Village, Ltění Parish, Western Bohemia, Austrian Empire (2016 Location: Hraditě Village and Municipality, Domalice District, Plzeň Region, Czech Republic). He was baptized on the same day. He was the son of Thomas Barta and Katharina Skarda. He married Anna Havlovitz (1831-1872) on 02 Oct 1866 in the Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Zahořany (Sahorschan), Stanětice Parish, Western Bohemia, Austrian Empire (2016 Location: Zahořany Village and Municipality, Domalice District, Plzeň Region, Czech Republic). His wife Anna was the widow of Georg Hynek (Hinek). He and his family (wife Anna, son Mathias (Michael), daughter Maria, step-daughter Margaretha Hinek (Hynek)) left the Port of Bremen on the Bark Gutenberg and arrived at the Port of Baltimore on 27 Jul 1872. His wife Anna and daughter Maria died during the voyage. He married Marie Mashek on 30 Sep 1872 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA. Between 1877 and 1879, he moved his family to Saunders County, Nebraska, USA. Before 1900, he moved to Linwood Township, Butler County, Nebraska, USA, and died on 25 Oct 1920 in Abie Village, Linwood Township, Nebraska, USA. He had two children with his wife Anna Havlovitz: Mathias (Michael) Barta 1868-1957 Maria Barta 1871-1872 He had five children with his wife Marie Mashek: Frank Charles Barta 1873-1952 James Barta 1875-1875 Joseph Frank Barta 1877-1960 Anna Barta Tomes 1879-1953 Mary H Barta Ruzek 1881-1972
