Parents: John R. and Nora (Conley) Bodine NEWSPAPER ARTICLES: Shawnee News-Star, Picturing those in service April 6, 1944 [photo of PFC Ewing BODINE and PFC Lawrence BODINE] These boys are PFC Ewing and PFC Lawrence BODINE, sons of Mr. and Mrs. John BODINE of Wanette, Route 2. Both boys enlisted in the Army in January, 1942, and were assigned to the Air Corps at Wichita Falls, Texas. From there they went to Jackson, Mississippi, then to Columbia, SC, and next on to Fort Dix, NJ. In August they were sent to England, where they are now stationed. These boys have lived near Wanette all their lives and are two of five brothers in service. The others are Everett in Italy, Delos H. of Bryan Field, Texas, and Robert Delaine BODINE of Muroc Field, California. OBITUARY: Shawnee News-Star, Shawnee, OK Lawrence M. Bodine Wednesday, July 15, 1998 WANETTE resident Lawrence M. Bodine died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was 78. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at WANETTE Cemetery. Further arrangements are pending. Shawnee News-Star, Shawnee, OK Lawrence M. Bodine Thursday, July 16, 1998 Lawrence M. Bodine of Asher died Tuesday in Shawnee at the age of 78. He was born Dec. 28, 1919, in WANETTE to John R. and Nora (Conley) Bodine. He attended school at Lone Oak and WANETTE and was a longtime resident of WANETTE. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps with the 305th Bomb Group in Belgium and England during World War II and was a dairyman and farmer in WANETTE. He married Joan Abbott in Wellingborough, England, on Sept. 7, 1944, and she preceded him in death in 1986. Bodine was a member of WANETTE American Legion Post 217, 413 Squadron Reunion Group and 8th Air Force Historical Society. Also preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers, John Bodine Jr., Ewing Bodine, Everett Bodine, Delos Bodine, Delayne Bodine, and an infant sister, Rosalee Bodine. Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and George Baca, Calhan, Colo.; Ruth and Larry Walls, Konawa; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Linda Bodine, Newalla; Larry and Annette Bodine, Ada; sister, Yvonne Finley, Shawnee; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Archie Bellar officiating. Burial will be at WANETTE Cemetery.
