Jeffrey L. Dozbaba July 7, 1952 - July 7, 2010 Jeffrey L. Dozbaba died on July 7, 2010, the day he turned 58. He stubbornly battled lung cancer for a little over two months, but the disease proved to be too tough an opponent. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he lived in Arizona for 32 years, however his love for cheese steaks and Philadelphia sports never left him. But Arizona truly became his home and it is where he raised his family, and worked for 31 years at the Arizona Republic. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary, and his adored children, Collin, 26, and Katie, 23. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Margaret Dozbaba. He also is survived by his brother, Mark, of Palm Springs, CA, and uncles and cousins in Philadelphia. He also leaves behind his wife's family who loved him like a son and brother and who cared for him and about him deeply. He also is survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, for whom he provided countless "Uncle Jeff" stories that will live on forever. Jeff attended Temple University and worked as a journalist throughout his life, including papers in New Jersey and Florida. At the Republic he held numerous editorial positions and was named a national Supervisor of the Year in 2007 by Gannett, the parent company of The Arizona Republic. Jeff loved reading, writing and watching and playing sports of all kinds. We all know he will be pursuing that elusive "perfect swing" in heaven. He was a dedicated and loving husband, dad and friend. He challenged us, he surprised us, he made us laugh, and in the end, he made us cry. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. Services will be Friday, July 16 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 16223 S. 48th Street, Phoenix, 85048. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. followed by Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can bemade to CaringBridge or the Pat Tillman Foundation. Bueler Mortuary
