What is the 8th Service Command? (Post by AZ Jeff » Fri Aug 21, 2009 10:01 pm) - The Service Commands managed the domestic training facilities and installations during WW2. They were roughly aligned along the pre-WW2 Corp boundaries. The 8th Service Command was headquartered in Dallas, Texas (originally San Antonio) and covered Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. So, for example, Camp Hood would have had 8th Service Command soldiers running the post while combat units cycled through for training.
