Son of George and Mary Elizabeth (Howard) Jones. Mary was the daughter of Benjamin and Levicy Jane (Medaris) Howard. He married Mary Benton Howard, daughter of Morgan Howard. Their children were James Cecil, George Richard Morgan, Mary Etta, Leo, Joe Charlie "JC", Billy Gene and Donald Jones.
