Bio
Johnnie Bedrich (82) of Lake Jackson, TX., was born in 1931 near Zabcikville in a small community East of Temple, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother Ollie Zabcik Bedrich, his father John Bedrich, sister Lorene Bedrich Reno, and brother-in law Byron Reno. He has one living brother, Alvin Bedrich and wife Martha of Temple. Johnnie married Patsy (Pat) Dockray in 1954 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Temple, Texas. They had three children. David and wife Julie, Donna Bedrich Allen and husband Bennie “Trag”, Russell and wife Melinda. He had 8 grandchildren. Johnnie moved to Brazoria County in 1953 when he went to work for Dow Chemical. He retired from Dow after 39 years. He spent most of his time in the Marine & Distribution Departments. Johnnie was a long time fisherman and hunter. He started deer hunting at age 17 and hunted until 2009 (65 years). He caught his last fish (Halibut) at Homer, AK in 2010. He fished from Port Isabelle to the Chandelier Islands and to Arkansas. He was a member of Willow Drive Baptist Church. He was a member of the Texas National Guard for 8 years. He served in both the 49th Armored Division and the 36th Infantry Division, achieving the rank of Sargent 1st class as a tank commander. He was a volunteer at Sea Center Texas from the day they opened in 1996. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 29, at Restwood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday Novembe 30, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Casey Allen, Calvin Bedrich, Taylor Bedrich, Brad Cox, Jason Hearn and Craig Hearn. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Willow Drive Baptist to assist in the completion of the second floor addition.
