Funeral Services for Sylvia Marshall, age 87, of Verdigre, will be held Friday, April 4, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Brockhaus Funeral Chapel in Verdigre. Delores Ruzicka will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Verdigre. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Marshall died Monday at Alpine Village Nursing Home in Verdigr Sylvia was born July 20, 1920 to John and Marie Kotrous on the family farm southwest of Verdigre. She was the oldest of five children. Sylvia attended and graduated from Verdigre High School in 1938. She worked many years at the Verdigre Creamery, Verdigre Bakery, and Tonys Tavern. On February 14, 1946 she was untied in marriage to Bob Konopasek at Oregon. To this union, one son, Doug was born. On July 27, 1965 Bob passed away. She married Leo Marshall on August 31, 1973. She was a member of Town and Country Club, Legion Auxiliary, and Senior Citizens. Sylvia was well known for her wonderful kolaches and roliky that she baked by the dozens for people in the community. Sylvia was very close to her grandchildren, Kyle, Toby, and Cody Konopasek and her new great grandson Owen and great granddaughter Emerson Konopasek. They were her pride and joy. Sylvia is survived by her husband Leo; son and daughter in law, Doug and Shelley Konopasek of Verdigre; 4 grandchildren, sister, Wilma Effle; sisters in law, Libby Pfaff and Erma Malles; step children, Pat Kellogg of Stanton, Russell Marshall of Verdigre, Connie Holdorf of Wayne, and Carol Potter of Yankton, SD; step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Konopasek; brothers, Leon and Alvin Kotrous; and one sister, Alma Bartos. ...Contributor: Matt Fischer (50250108)
