William Henry Cronk was married to Nancy Edith Timmerman on April 19, 1884. They had ten children; Leonard J., Ollie Alice, Ethel E., Jennie Elmina, Grace Gertrude, Maude Blanche, Velma Adelaine, Wayland E., Walter W., Doris N., and Leonard William Cronk. --------------- From "The Ord Quiz", Ord, Nebraska dated Thursday, March 21, 1946, Page 1: W. Cronk, 86, Pioneer Resident Dies Here Monday Funeral Services to be Held Thursday Afternoon in Pearson's Chapel William Henry Cronk, 86, an early settler of Valley county who lived more than seventy years in Nebraska, died at his home in Ord March 18. Funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in Pearson's chapel. Interment will be in the Ord cemetery with grandsons serving as pall bearers. Mr. Cronk saw Ord grow from a few houses to the bustling little city it is today. His acquaintances considered him to be a man of high moral standards. He and his wife reared a family of ten children. They experienced all the hardships of pioneer life which were the ____ of early day homesteaders. He was the builder of several fine homes in Ord. March 26, 1860 Mr. Cronk was born in Oneida county, New York. He came to Nebraska when fourteen years old where he lived the remainder of his life with the exception of a year spent in Idaho. He married Nancy E. Timmerman April 19, 1884 and to this union ten children were born all of whom survive except a son, Leonard, who died at the age of 30 years. He leaves a widow and nine children: Mrs. Ollie Bresley of North Loup, Mrs. Ethel Arnold of Saskatchewan, Canada, Mrs. Jennie Clement and Mrs. Grace Rice both of Ord, Mrs. Maude Lohff of Holstein, Ia., Mrs. Velma Meese of Ord, Wayland Cronk of Nebraska City, Walter Cronk and Mrs. Dora Hansen both of Ord, and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Cummings of Malta, Mont., thirty-one grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
