Maynard P. Kraemer was born on November 23, 1916 in Turner County, near Parker, SD the son of Gustav E. and Louise (Brinker) Kraemer. He died on Monday, October 25, 2004 at the United Retirement Center in Brookings at the the age of 87 years. Maynard received his education in Turner County schools and was a graduate of the Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD. During WWII he helped build B bombers in Detroit. He attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Maynard was united in marriage to Ruth Reitz on December 21, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN. For the next 25 years he was involved in government construction projects including Missouri River Dams and Minute Men missile sites as a civilian employee of the Corps of Engineers. From 1966 to 1999 they lived in Bloomington, MN. He retired from Rosemount Engineering as an electrical engineer in 1982. He was generous in his support of his church and enjoyed sharing his deep Christian faith through his love of music, singing, and playing harmonica, keyboard and guitar. He was also known for his bountiful garden produce which he shared with friends, neighbors and his church. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Ruth of Brookings; two daughters Margaret Greene (Dale) of North Augusta, SC, Mary Moeller (Lon) of Brookings, SD; six grandchildren Steven Moeller (Ardis) of Brewster, MN, Michael Moeller (Marie) of Iowa City, IA, Julie Holgate (Jeff), Sheri Kahnke (Dan) all of Watertown, SD, John and James Greene of Estelline, SD; and two great grandchildren Nicholas and Courtney Moeller both of Brewster, MN; and two sisters-in-law Johanna Kraemer of Parker, SD and Lois Kraemer of Humboldt, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, and twin brothers Rex and Max.
