Bio

John was one of the original land owners in Smith Co. He and his wife, Caroline, moved to Shelby Co, TX where their first child, Louisa Jane, was born. His land was surveyed in 1847 and he moved his family to Smith Co. John raised his family of eight children and farmed his land until his death around 1881. He last appeared in the Smith Co census records in 1880 being 69 yrs old. It is believed that him and his wife, Caroline, are buried in unmarked graves in Mason Cemetery.
