Vest, Joseph Freeman Owner and operator of Joe's Washing Machine service and later retired from Ace Appliance to open and operate Identity Signs, he passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2005. He was 89, a native of Donovan, Ill., and moved to Baton Rouge to work as a welding supervisor at the new military base, Harding Field. Visiting was at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by a daughter, Dianne V. Weems and her husband, Joe; a stepson, Glenn Marble and his wife, Norma Jean; five grandchildren, Angela Woest, Cliff Weems, Deenie Robinson, David W. Cofer and Jackie Goepper; four step grandchildren, Tony Marble, Debra Cochran, Tracy Darnell and Rebecca Tomlinson; nine great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Vest; father and mother, Charles and Madge Mae Chiever Vest; a son, Charles Wayne Vest; a daughter, Shirleyn Cofer; two sisters, Ella Mae Allard and Charlene V. Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Jordan Robinson. Pallbearers will be great-grandsons. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, AARP Chapter 71, Gem and Mineral Society and Park Forest Subdivision Association. Advocate, The (Baton Rouge, LA) - Thursday, February 24, 2005
