Bio
Rosemary Elizabeth Shewmake, 80, of Manhattan, died Friday, October 18, 2013, at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community. She worked as a kitchen aide at Manhattan Junior High School for 28 years. She also worked at the Manhattan Town Center mall for nine years. Rosemary also worked at Motel 6 as a housekeeper. Rosemary Moravek was born in Barnes, Kansas, on October 6, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Clementina (Karas) Moravek. She attended and graduated from Barnes High School in 1954, and attended Crestview Christian Church in Manhattan. Rosemary is survived by two sons, Gary Shewmake, of Manhattan, and David Shewmake of Junction City; a daughter, Carol Pickel, of Casa Grande, Arizona; and a sister, Arlene Garcia, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri. A memorial service was held at the Crestview Christian Church in Manhattan on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 1 p.m. Inurnment followed at the Greenleaf Cemetery on the same day.
