Walter Wenzlaff was born September 24, 1920 to Wilhelm and Wilhelmina Wenzlaff in Wellington Township, SD. He was the youngest of five children, August, Otto, Edna, and Frieda, all preceding him in death. He farmed and raised cattle his entire life on the farm where he was raised. On August 26, 1950, he was united in marriage with Helen Kraemer in Pipestone, MN. Together, they farmed and raised four children, Walter W. Wenzlaff of rural Colton, SD, Terri Lynn Wenzlaff of Gunnison, CO, Teresa Kay Wenzlaff (now deceased) and Patricia Wenzlaff, of rural Hartford; and a son-in-law, Walter Shaver, of rural Hartford. He remained on the same farm his entire life until illness in January of 2003 required him to go to the Tieszen Memorial Home where he was residing at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen Kraemer Wenzlaff; three children; five grandchildren, Justin Wenzlaff, Jesse Wenzlaff, Amanda Wenzlaff, Shelby Shaver, and Dylan Shaver; and numerous nieces and nephews.
