John Rezabek was born on April 24, 1858, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Rezabek in Bohemia. He came to America with his parents in 1865 and lived in St. Louis, Missouri for six years after which the family moved to Wilber. In 1881 he was married to Ana Sasek and in 1883 they moved to Imperial where they lived for six years and then moved back to Wilber. Ten children were born to this union, all of whom survive him. His wife passed away in 1900. He retired from farming in 1917 and spent the time from then on with his children in Wilber, Crete, and Oklahoma. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter Henning on March 26 at the age of 94 years, 11 months, and 2 days. He is survived by eight daughters, Mrs. Marie Kubert of Crete, Mrs. Frances Havranek of Wilber, Mrs. Bessie Kubert of Lincoln, Mrs. Anna Rine of Crete, Mrs. Emma Janda of Lincoln, Mrs. Ella Rezny of Dorchester, Mrs. Rose Henning of Wilber, and Mrs. Bertha Behrens of Crete; two sons, E.E. of Wilber and Frank F. of Medford, Oklahoma; 36 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the Schleis Chapel with Rev. H.C. Cordts officiating. Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery. Source: The Crete News, April 3, 1953
