Bio

Victor A. Svitak, 96, of Clarkson, Nebraska, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the Clarkson Golden Living Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 4, at 10:00 AM at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson with Fr. Rod Kneifl and Fr. Tim Forgét celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil Service at the church. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Interment will be in the Clarkson Catholic Cemetery with military honors by the Cornhusker Post 6419 Honor Guard of the VFW. Victor A. Svitak was born August 26, 1917, in Stanton County, Nebraska, (north of Howells) to Adolph and Anna (Vrba) Svitak. He attended District 32 grade school north of Howells. On August 22, 1941, Victor entered the United States Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged on October 25, 1944. On November 20, 1956, Victor was united in marriage to LaVae Kavan at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend, Nebraska. Victor farmed north of Clarkson until 1983 when he and LaVae moved into Clarkson. He was a member of SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Clarkson American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the Clarkson Catholic Cemetery Board. Victor and LaVae enjoyed going to county fairs. He enjoyed playing bingo. In 2008, Victor enjoyed his first plane ride. Victor is survived by: Nephew – Frank (Sharon) Bohaboj of Dodge, NE Nephew – Joseph (Judy) Bohaboj of Clarkson, NE Niece – Helen Castoral of Rogers, AR Nephew – Victor Novak of Yankton, SD Niece – Martha Schmidt – Lincoln, NE Victor was preceded in death by: Parents – Adolph and Anna Svitak Wife – LaVae Svitak Brother – James Svitak Sisters – Stazie Bohaboj, Mary Svitak, and Anna Novak Great Great Nephew - Brevin Blum
