Vladik was the son of John and Vlasta (Dusek) Walcik and the step son of William Rose , second husband of Vlasta. He was born in rural Fort Bend County, near Orchard, Texas. Vladik served in the US Army during World War II as a part of the Second Engineer Special Brigade, 542nd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment, Co. A. He was stationed in the Southwest Pacific Theatre. He married Gaynell Taylor in Yoakum, Lavaca County, Texas on May 6, 1946. He was a former postal employee, beginning his career as a substitute clerk in Rosenberg, Texas and ending his career as Postmaster at Richmond, Texas. Vladik was ordained as a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Rosenberg in 1951 and served as the church clerk for 35 years. He was a mason and Past Master of Rosenberg Lodge 881 A. F. & A. M. He was also a member of the Milton Brenner Post 3903 V.F.W. in Rosenberg. His parents, wife, and sister, Rosole Wallcik, preceded him in death. He leaves behind two sons and their wives, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His family gathered the weekend before his death to celebrate his 102nd birthday. He was excited and looking forward to Christmas, when the family would all be back together again.
