Jalena Davis Holmes Decatur Funeral Service for Jalena Davis Holmes, 83, of Decatur, will be Monday, October 28, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Ripley and Bro. Benny Sivley officiating. The family will receive friends today, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Mrs. Holmes, who died Friday, October 25, 2013, at her residence, was born April 23, 1930, to Edgar and Lillian Davis of Lester. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lowell Holmes; two sons, Don (Brenda) Holmes of Plano, Tx., and David (Gena) Holmes; two daughters, Neva (Jim) Ransom of Birchwood, Tn., and Patricia Tweedie of Chattanooga, Tn.; one brother, Harold Davis of Lester; one sister, Janette Mankins of Lester; two sister-in-laws, Vonda "Pat" Holmes of Cullman, Linda Davis of Elkmont; 11 granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; also numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the following; Hospice of the Valley, The Alzheimer's Association , or Decatur Baptist Church Mission Fund.
