Bio

R. Paul Carr, 93, of Groesbeck, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013, in Waco. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 24, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Services will at 2 p.m., Friday, October 25, followed by burial in Old Union Cemetery. Robbie Paul was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he served as a Radioman Third Class (Naval Rating), and; was a tire business owner/manager for Goodyear Tire and Rubber for many years. Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and loved going to the home place and tending his cattle. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Maxine Vernell Shelton Carr, in 2012; son, Charles Henry Carr; grandson, David Szanto; son-in-law, Lloyd Szanto; and all his siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Paula Szanto, of Lake Limestone; daughter-in-law, Julia Beard Carr, of Houston; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Alexander, of Riesel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
